Metalcore is basically a mix of post-hardcore (better known as screamo), punk, heavy metal, and alternative rock. Many bands use similar instrumentation to death metal, and similar vocals to post-hardcore.
post-hardcore is not screamo, you want a screamo band look up alesana, definition of screamo. and terrible too.
Try Raein or Funeral Diner, Alesana is post-hardcore too.

Holy shit. You guys are all fucking morons. Metal + hardcore = metalcore. It's not that difficult. The genre has been around for almost twenty years and like most genres that originate from hardcore punk (emo, screamo) it has mutated over time into a parody of itself. The shit that is labeled as metalcore, emo, screamo or even "punk" are so detached from those words originally described, it's almost unrecognizable.
This, perhaps, is the best and funniest website I have ever been to before. Even the comments here are hilarious.

There should be a site called yahoo answers fail fail, Metalcore is considered a laughing stock by any metal fan over the age of 45 and bands that are considered metalcore are most certainly not Green Day or Killswitch Engage, but instead include Emmure, Molotov Solution, and We Are The End etc.
You guys need to calm the fuck down. Quit bitching about how rap is stupid. Tupac has some of the best lyrics I have ever read. And Biggie has great flow. They aren't played on the radio though, so it just shows that you guys are making close minded decisions and conclusions about genres based on radio shit. Country doesn't suck either, because American music would be nowhere it is today without the Carter Family, Johnny Cash, etc. My point? If you are going to conclude anything about a grouping of music as big and inclusive as a genre, then fucking educate yourself and listen to more than just what is handed to you first.
As for the answer, ahaha. That's epic as fuck. Most metalcore bands sound exactly the same (As I Lay Dying, Killswitch, etc). And the whole "scene" bullshit is fucking annoying, and I hate how every time I go to a show, there is some scene bitch annoying the fuck out of everyone.
